How to Get the Most Out of this Practice Exam

If you use the free version, you can take the entire exam. It is not a partial exam. At the end, it will simply give you a "Pass" or "Fail". Test Day Preperation Tips

When you arrive at the testing site, you are likely to be experience high anxiety. Knowing what to expect when you walk in the door can help calm your nerves at that crucial moment.

While all testing sites are different, you will generally be asked to take the following steps:

  • You will be asked for a valid government issued identification with a recent picture on it (driver's license, passport, etc.)
  • You will need to read a list of rules and procedures in regards to the test
  • You will be issued a locked to store your phone, jewelry, and other belongings. Nothing is allowed to be brought into the testing area.
  • You will get your picture taken
  • You will be asked to pull up your sleeves, empty your pockets, and pull up your pant legs
  • You will sign in with the date and time
  • You will be given a calculator, 2 pieces of grid paper and two markers
  • You will be led into a testing room and assigned a desk
  • Headphones are available to drown out any noise in the room
  • Your computer will start up and you will have to check various disclosures
  • You will be given an automated tutorial of the testing interface
  • Once you click to start the test, the interface appears and the clock starts running
  • During the test, if you need to use the restroom, you can alert the proctor and they will let you leave. The time on the clock keeps ticking while your are gone however
  • Once you finish the test, it compute for a little while and then spit out a results "Pass" or "Fail"
  • You will be asked to sign out, get your belongings back, and be given a printout with your result
  • Within a couple days, your result will appear in your FINRA account

About the Series 66 Exam

How many questions are on the Series 66 Exam?

There are a total of 110 questions. Ten of the questions are "experimental" and are not counted toward your score. One thing the exam prep companies don't take into account are these 10 extra questions. They prep you for answering 100 questions in 150 minutes when in reality you have to answer 110.

In the Series 66 Exam, how many questions do you need to get correct to pass?

You need to get 73 questions correct to pass. Remember this is 73 out of 100 (73%). Ten of the questions you will complete are experimental and thus not graded.

Do you need to be sponsored to take the Series 66?

No! Unlike the Series 7, sponsorship by a FINRA-associated firm is NOT necessary. Taking the Series 66 is a great way to prove to employer firms that you take initiative and are likely to pass the Series 7. Passing the Series 66 removes a lot of the risk of hiring you.
